• What has changed?
• The Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II marks a substantial update to its predecessor, the Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS. It features a faster four-motor autofocus system; a new dedicated aperture ring that you can unclick; and a revised optical design.

• Full frame E mount.
• As part of the FE lens line, the FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II is designed for Sony full frame cameras. It is also fully compatible with APS-C cameras, on which it will provide an equivalent focal length of 105-300mm.

• Professional quality telephoto zoom lens.
• When used on a full-frame camera, the FE 70-200 GM offers a short aperture portrait focal range perfect for sports photography and other fast-action shots. The fast f/2.8 aperture provides a shallow depth of field while allowing you to continue shooting even in low light. A newly developed aperture drive system is especially fast and quiet, while the new aperture ring has switchable on/off clicks and an iris lock, making this lens well-suited for video applications.

• Five axis image stabilization.
• A five-axis optical SteadyShot image stabilization system minimizes the appearance of camera shake, giving you sharp images even when shooting handheld at slower shutter speeds. The SteadyShot system will work with the built-in sensor-shift image stabilization of some cameras for even more effective blur control. An optical SteadyShot mode switch lets you choose from three image stabilization options: Mode 1, which is suitable for most types of shooting; Mode 2, a higher setting specifically for use with panning movements; and Mode 3, for increased framing stability when shooting moving subjects.

• XD linear motor autofocus system.
• This improved internal focusing system uses four extreme dynamic linear motors to provide fast, near-silent and highly accurate autofocus performance, ideal for both photo and video use. This AF system is up to four times faster than the original 70-200. You also get a dedicated focus hold button and an AF/MF switch that allow you to tailor the focus to your shooting needs. Finally, there is a function ring with preset and function focus settings.
• Advanced Optical Design. The fourteen-group/seventeen-element design of the FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II includes an XA element, an aspherical element, two ultra-low dispersion aspherical elements, two ultra-low dispersion elements, and two Super ED elements to minimize chromatic aberration and produce clear, high-contrast images. A Nano AR II coating keeps flare and ghosting at bay while maintaining color fidelity.
